Last April, I did an industry backer reading of a new rock musical by Grace Millo, called Connection. I am thrilled to report that Grace has asked me back again to do another industry backer reading on May 14! This time, the book is by David Caudle, whose fantastic play, The Short Fall, I did last year with Toy Box Theatre Company. In Connections, I will again be playing Burt, an out of work, homeless ex-banker with a great character song, “People Should Come with Plans.” The cast is pretty new this time around, so I don’t know their resumes, but BOY CAN THEY SING!
The Hive Theatre’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is coming back! This time, we’ll be performing at Theatre for the New City under a slightly different name: A Midsummer Night’s (Queer) Dream. I’ll admit I’m not crazy about the title at all. I think the change is unnecessary.
We originally performed the production at The Cell. but this production will be at the historic Theatre for the New City in the East Village. We’ll be performing in their Off Broadway space, the Johnson Theatre.
To what does the post title refer, you ask? Well, it refers to the fact that in this production, not only will I be playing Egeus and Snout the Tinker, which I played in last Summer’s production at the Cell, but I’ll also be playing the fairy, Peasblossom. In this production, Peasblossom is a geisha! OMG, I’m a geisha!
The production runs April 27 – May 19 (previews April 25 and 26) and tickets can be purchased here.
Ron appeared as Shamrayev in the new Michael Raver adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull at TheatreLab. The reading was directed by Kelly Johnston and starred Michael Raver as Constantin Treplev.
Ron has been invited to be a member of the Hive Theatre Company! Ron appeared as Egeus and Snout the Tinker in the Hive’s critically acclaimed, gender bending production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in July of this year. As part of the Company, Ron will help with the administrative side of producing theatre and appearing in future Hive productions. Ron is excited to join this group of incredibly talented artists!
I’m shooting the film CA$H 4 GOLD in Manhattan and Brooklyn this weekend. Director Robin Fraser Pattinson is helming the project. Rehearsals have been wonderful, so I’m really looking forward to the shoot. Stay tuned. . . .
No, I’m not starting a new business! I’ve just been cast in a short film called Cash For Gold that will shoot August 11-14. Hopefully, I’ll be able to post it to my website in the not-too-distant future!
Yes, you read that right! I’ve been cast in a new musical, Wars and Whores, based on Shakespeare’s Henry VI. And I’m playing King Henry! The production will rehearse in New York City, but perform at the Philadelphia fringe festival in early September. More information to follow!
The reading of Lauren Epsenhart’s Pushing Daisy on June 23 with Planet Connections Festivity has received a festival nomination for Outstanding Overall Production of a Staged Reading! Elysia Segal and Etai BenSchlomo were also nominated in the acting categories!
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is my next project. I’ve happily been cast as Egeus and Snout the Tinker in the upcoming Hive Theatre production of this Shakespeare classic! It runs from July 5-31 at The Cell Theatre on 23rd Street between 8th and 9th Avenues. I saw the Hive Theatre’s last production, The Hypochondriac, and updated version of Moliere’s The Imaginary Invalid and it was fantastic! I’m really excited to be working with them in this gender bender production. Tickets are available at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/producer/13700
I’ve been cast in a reading of a new play by Lauren Epsenhart called Pushing Daisy for the Planet Connections Festivity. The reading is scheduled for June 23 at 2 PM and is being directed by Luis Salgado of Broadway’s In The Heights and Mambo Kingsand stars Elysia Segal as Daisy. The cast includes Doreen Montalvo Mann, Chris Gleim and Tony Award nominee, Olga Merediz! Elysia and I became friends during Together This Time at the New York International Fringe Festival last summer. Now I get to play her Dad!
